What happened? You used to be able to eat and drink as much as you wanted and do it all again the next day. Now, sometimes even three days of recovery from that second beer at dinner isn’t enough to get you back to 100%. You could Google “workout plans for men,” but there’s just no time in the day to plan a diet or workout regiment around your schedule, right? Well, that’s where we come in.
With the proper instruction, you can get back to the man you used to be. And just like everything else in life, you need to start with a strong foundation. When it comes to fitness and nutrition, that foundation begins with goals–what do you want to accomplish, and what are the steps needed to get there?
Workout Plans for Men: Why You Need to Know What Your Goals Are
One of the biggest issues facing beginners on their road to fitness success is a delusion of grandeur surrounding their capabilities. Oh, you used to bench 250 in college? Cool. You think after two kids and a decade of sitting around you’re just gonna start back at 250 again? Nope–not even close.
You need to take a hard look at yourself and accept the fact that you’re not who you used to be. Once you accept that, then you can accept that while it’s true now, it doesn’t have to be true going forward.
You’re not going to become Mr. Universe overnight. Your goals should reflect your abilities and the effort that you’re able and willing to put into them. There’s no magic bullet when it comes to getting in shape, so your goals shouldn’t read like there is.
Take it one day at a time, start slow, and instead of beating yourself up for not being able to do x number of push-ups by a certain date, congratulate yourself that you’re able to do x more push-ups than when you started.
You’re not that invincible teenager anymore, and being reckless in your fitness and nutrition can have permanent consequences. Injuries from improper lifting techniques are all too common when beginners don’t get the proper guidance.
When setting up your goals, make sure to take into account that your body isn’t going to be able to handle everything it used to right away and that you may need a refresher from the pros before getting back in there.
It’ll take time to work back to where you used to be, but rest assured that if you follow our programs, you will get back there.
